Street Photography - around England.

street photography from around England.

This is my last archive entry so I thought I’d bundle everything into one post.

One of my favourite places to stay is Bristol, luckily its a great place for Street Photography too, much as the same vibe as Brighton. Other places I’ve shot street and recommend to go to are Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Blackpool.

This gallery is shot in all the above places except Blackpool which I’ve lost and may go over that in a seperate blog post.

If you don’t know Streethunters.net is a Street photography website run by Street photographer Spyros papaspyropoulos who is based on the greek island of Crete.

The day has great memories for me so wanted to upload the shots I got from the day, some good Street Photography was done…..and some drinking! Some of us also did a pre meet up a couple of weeks before so I have added them to the gallery as well.

Tattoo Conventions

photography, drink and show.

As with Comic Con I went to the Tattoo convention in London as a confidence building exercise and I thought it would be great photography.

I’ve been twice now, in 2018 and 2019. It’s a very different atmosphere than Comic con, Tattoos are a work of art displayed on humans, some like the art to be displayed for some it is personal and private. You need to fully aware and try to read situations so they good practise for Street photography.

This gallery is a mixture of photos taken from both and also the show which is on there which is very photographic.

Comic Con

great for building confidence .

Street Photography has a lot to do with confidence, this can show and impact on your photography, not quite getting close enough or the right angle.

The best way to build confidence is to go out and actually practise your Street photography. There is another way which I have found to be beneficial is to go to conventions where they are much more receptive to having their photo taken. Comic Con is one of those conventions.

This was just lucky timing for me, I was actually at ‘The Photography Show’ in Birmingham and had not realised that Comic Con was on at the same time. I had come out of the show for some fresh air and there were all these Cosplayers walking around looking fantastic and very willing to have their photograph taken. I have been a few times since to the London show, it is also great for a few candid shots of Cosplayers in normal situations which I find works well for Street Photography.

Brighton Pride

A favourite day…..

This is a day I recommend to any Street Photographer, Pride Day in Brighton is amazing, full of colour, full of excitement and a photo opportunity around every corner.

Even though this was one of the best days I’ve had as a Street Photographer I’ve actually only been once. I keep meaning to go back every year but I just haven’t managed too. Hopefully next year will be the year!

So this gallery was taken one one sunny day in Brighton.

London Street Photography

My favourite place.

This is my favourite place to practise my hobby of Street Photography. It is a diverse, vibrant city with so many interesting places to photograph. My favourite places to visit include Camden, Southbank, China town, Borough Market, Covent Garden and around Oxford Street.

I usually take the train up to Waterloo then walk down the Southbank all the way to Borough Market, then cross the river. Covent Garden and China Town are great in the evening as well as Carnaby Street. A special time to go is at Christmas as they have great Christmas decorations spanning the streets, the angels look amazing on Regis Street.

As you would expect, this gallery is large having most of my favourite Street pictures taken here.

Disney Trip.

disney….yes disney

I was a bit late to the party on this, it was supposed to be a holiday to Florida but ended up being two weeks at Disney with a few days at Universal Studios.

Well I’ve got to say it was one of the best holidays I’ve ever had, just for sheer enjoyment and having fun. You cannot be sad there it’s a place of happiness, wonder and delight with a little terror included (Space Mountain). I have booked a trip this year in October but not sure if we will get there but enjoying watching the You Tube videos and dreaming!

The gallery is a mixture of holidays snaps with candid and street pictures .

Brighton Street Photography

Brighton, its magical…..

Brighton is my second favourite city in England to visit for Street Photography. It has an excellent beach area, the lanes, which are a close selection of independent shops and it just has a vibe about the place.

I’m a fair weather shooter and don’t mind admitting that, Street Photography on a glorious sunny day……..well there’s nothing like it. You don’t get wet, your equipment stays dry too, everyone is in a better mood and also it’s easier. Yes easier more sun, more light, lower ISO better photos, with street it’s good to keep the shutter speed up so your pictures are in focus. Many times I’ve got a great shot only to be ruined by not being in perfect focus…….perhaps a separate blog post for that explanation.

Any way Brighton, It’s magical.

London Street Photography - Camden Town

the place for street photography

If I were only allowed to take Street Photography in one place in London it would be Camden Town. Every time I’ve been there I’ve managed to get some good street pictures.

Camden Town market is the main draw, with It’s array of wonderful shops and stalls and great places to eat. The atmosphere is great especially later in the day (if you know what I mean….) It it runs both sides of the canal too it is vey picturesque so makes for a nice backdrop.

Another place I want to go back too.
